Proactive, reliable advice, at the right price
I inherited our relationship with FAL and I wouldn’t change a thing. At our very first meeting nearly three years ago, Peter Francis told me that there might be an opportunity for us to regain our not-for-profit status, following a recent High Court decision. It took a little while for us to pursue not-for-profit status, but we have recently done so very successfully.
At FAL’s suggestion, we also successfully applied to the state revenue offices for a refund of the payroll tax we’ve paid over the last five years. For a research organisation, that kind of cash injection has been highly valuable. FAL not only guided us through the whole process, but also talked to the various different bodies and followed up. It was fantastic.
We’ve also used them for commercial negotiations, such as structuring funding agreements, and we have found their employment law practice to provide fantastic advice.
I’ve found the FAL team to be really knowledgeable. They are only a small firm but they are well connected and if they don’t have the expertise, they will know someone who does. Their fee structure is also really good. I don’t hesitate in referring work to them because I know I’m not going to get ripped off.
They have built up an extensive understanding of our business and they actively pursue that interest, making well-thought-out recommendations. They help us stay ahead of the game. I’d recommend any research organisation to work with FAL.
