April holds a Bachelor of Laws and Arts degree from La Trobe University and a post graduate qualification in intellectual property law from Melbourne University.
April was admitted to practice on 1 June 1998. Prior to joining FAL Lawyers as a Special Counsel to head up their Dispute Resolution Group, she was a senior practitioner in the Dispute Resolution group of a national law firm.
April practices in commercial litigation with particular emphasis on intellectual property, franchising and contractual disputes. April also provides pre litigious advice for risk management purposes to her commercial clients.
April’s principal expertise includes:
- Running complex commercial litigation disputes especially with emphasis on large scale co-ordinated proceedings in Federal and Supreme courts of all jurisdictions
- Assisting clients with pro-active risk management and adoption of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms
- Identifying strategies for dispute resolution at an early stage
- Leading a team of lawyers
- Advising and acting for a broad range of clients in IP , IT, Trade Practices, Corporations Act, contractual disputes and other commercial litigation arbitrations and Appeals
- Advising clients in all aspects of their commercial legal issues including company structuring
- Taking a commercial approach and appreciation of clients’ strategic aims.
